1922-1935 – 90% SILVER PEACE DOLLAR CIRCULATED “The obverse side of the Peace Dollar shows the profile, facing left, of a crowned Lady Liberty with hair flowing behind her. The reverse pictures an American eagle resting on a rocky outcropping, peering at the sun through its rays. The word “Peace” is written on the rock where the eagle is standing on. The Lady Liberty was modelled by Teresa, wife of Italian immigrant Anthony de Francisci who won the contest for the design of the peace dollar. The peace dollar is special in the sense that it commemorates the restoration of peace after World War I.”
